The group of Nuclear Physics at the National Technical University of Athens has been active since the 1970s and nowadays it's part of the School of Applied Mathematical and Physical Sciences. The group's close collaboration with the NCSR "Demokritos", the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research "HCMR" and other Greek and international research institutions, has led to important results in the fields of science and technology.

The group's wide range of research interests involves the study of neutron-induced reactions (e.g. neutron reactions with applications in future production of safer and cleaner nuclear energy) and measurement, benchmarking and evaluation of differential cross-sections suitable for Ion Beam Analysis (IBA). Furthermore, the group performs radiological studies in the aquatic environment in collaboration with the "HCMR". The group's publications in highly-esteemed scientific journals and the constant presence in prestigious scientific conferences have placed it among the top experimental groups in nuclear physics with great expertise.
